Powdered sugar, icing sugar and other powdered sweetening ingredients may cause conventional bulk bags to expand outward during filling and transportation. This can affect pallet arrangement, filled-bag dimensions and container-space utilization. Fine sugar particles may also penetrate the woven fabric structure or escape through needle holes and sewn connections.
During discharge, environmental humidity, powder compaction and extended storage may cause powdered sugar to cake or bridge. This can result in irregular discharge and increased material residue. Food manufacturers must also consider loose threads, visible foreign matter, batch separation and food-contact documentation.
Conventional FIBCs without internal baffles provide limited control over lateral expansion. When powdered sugar is loaded, internal pressure pushes the side panels outward. Fine particles can enter uncoated woven fabric, while unsuitable seams, needle holes or spout closures may increase the risk of powder escape.
Powdered sugar can also absorb moisture and form lumps. Inner-coated fabric helps reduce powder penetration into the woven structure, but it does not replace a separate liner with verified barrier properties. High environmental humidity, long storage periods or an unsuitable outlet design may increase the risk of caking and discharge difficulties.
This food grade Q bag uses 200 g/m² white inner-coated fabric for the body, top and bottom panels. Four 57 × 100 cm internal baffles help limit lateral expansion and maintain a more controlled filled profile. Each baffle contains four evenly distributed 10 × 30 cm oval openings that allow powdered sugar to move between the internal sections. A Ø50 × 60 cm top filling spout, Ø45 × 45 cm bottom discharge spout and four 7 × 160 cm lifting loops support compatible filling, lifting and unloading operations. For highly hygroscopic powdered sugar or applications requiring stricter powder control, a separate PE liner, sift-resistant seams or a high-barrier liner should also be evaluated.
These shape-retaining food grade Q bags can be used for compatible powdered sugar, icing sugar, bakery sugar, dry sweetening ingredients for confectionery production and similar free-flowing food powders. Typical operations include bulk filling, warehouse handling, palletized transportation and feeding of materials into production lines at sugar-processing facilities, confectionery factories, industrial bakeries and food-ingredient plants. Hygroscopic, caking or specially formulated sweetening ingredients should be evaluated according to particle size, bulk density, storage humidity and discharge method.
